Tottenham could sign '£90m' star Traore after Wolves source update today - ex-teammate

Tottenham could sign a “£90million player” in the shape of Wolves winger Adama Traore, according to Alan Hutton.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 25-year-old has “all the attributes” to be a “top-class” player.

As reported by the Telegraph on Sunday (2 January), Tottenham are considering a move for Traore this month after failing with two bids last summer.

A Wolves source has told Football Insider the winger may be available for just £18million in the January window after being valued at £50m in August.

Hutton, who played alongside Traore at Aston Villa, admitted he has been “frustrated” by the winger’s lack of end product.

He insisted the Spain international could be worth a lot more if he could deliver regularly.

Asked if Spurs could get the best out of Traore, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It is a big if. It’s a huge if.

“I find this a difficult one as I’ve worked with him. I know what he’s capable of. We just don’t see it enough.

“It’s frustrating because you know what he could be capable of. If you can get him in the right frame of mind, you can work with him on what he needs to produce on the pitch.

“If you could unlock him and bring out the best in him, week after week after week, he would be an £80-90million player. That’s what we’re talking about here.

“It’s about trying to find his right position. Getting the best out of him and making him understand what he needs to bring to the party.

“For the position you need to play in the Tottenham team at the moment, you’re pivotal to what they do.

“You need to create and is he capable of that at the moment at that high level? I’m not so sure. But look, he’s got all the attributes that it takes to be a top-class winger or however you want to play him.”

Traore is yet to score or set up a goal in 18 Premier League appearances this season.

He has 10 goals and 18 assists in 151 games for Wolves so far.
