Revealed: 'Huge' update on Man City bid to sign Nunes
Matheus Nunes is extremely keen to join Man City in the final week of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Friday (25 August) that City remain confident of landing the 24-year-old before the 1 September deadline.
It is believed they are ready to come back with a bid of almost £60million after seeing their opening offer rejected by Wolves.
The Molineux club could rake in a new record fee – which currently stands at the reported £47million paid for ex-captain Ruben Neves by Al-Hilal this summer.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Pep Guardiola is a “huge fan” of Nunes as he attempts to make him City’s latest signing.
The Spaniard has previously revealed his admiration for the Portugal international.

Speaking after facing Nunes’ old side – Sporting CP – in the Champions League in 2022, Guardiola said: “Nunes is one of the best players in the world today.”
It is believed the 24-year-old is seen as an ideal stand-in for injured Kevin De Bruyne and a potential successor for Ilkay Gundogan.
He has started twice already this season but received a red card in the Molineux club’s last Premier League fixture against Brighton last week (19 August) and missed Saturday’s (26 August) game against Everton.
Nunes only signed for Wolves for a reported club-record fee of £42.2million last summer and enjoyed a successful debut season in England.
A potential sale would leave Gary O’Neil’s side with just days to draft in a potential replacement for the midfielder.
Nevertheless, Football Insider revealed on Friday (25 August) that Wolves boss O’Neil is keen to improve the spine of his side with transfer funds if Nunes is sold.
