Celtic star told he 'will never be Kieran Tierney' after new development - expert
Celtic left-back Greg Taylor is the “best of the rest” when it comes to Scottish left-backs but will never match up to Kieran Tierney.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hoops striker Frank McAvennie suggested Taylor has no chance of making any Scotland squad when both Tierney and Andy Robertson are fully fit.
Steve Clarke confirmed his squad for the upcoming Euro qualifier against Spain when the Scots could secure their place in the 2024 competition.
Taylor returned to the fold after missing out in the last international break whilst Tierney, who picked up a hamstring injury on loan at Real Sociedad, drops out.
The Arsenal defender is expected to miss a significant period of time after picking up this latest issue.
Taylor is no stranger to international duty and has already earned ten senior caps for Scotland, the current boss handing him his debut back in 2019.

When asked if the 25-year-old is deserving of his latest call up, McAvennie told Football Insider: “I do not think Greg will get too carried away.
“Kieran Tierney is out so that is why Greg is back in. He is doing what he is doing at Celtic, he is winning games and that is catching the eye of Steve Clarke whether he deserved it or not.
“I think if Kieran was fit he would be in there but you have got to say Greg is the best of the rest.
“That is no disrespect to him at all because you are talking about two of the best in the world.“
