Sources: Reading ready to accept Tom Holmes offer
Reading are willing to listen to offers for vice-captain Tom Holmes before the close of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Royals faced interest in the 23-year-old last summer but rejected offers from Nottingham Forest and Luton Town.
However, it is understood that Reading have changed their transfer stance and are ready to consider offers this summer.
The League One side are struggling financially and view Holmes as a valuable asset that could help to raise funds.
Holmes came through Reading’s academy system and has grown into a regular starter for the side at the age of 23.
He has already made over 110 appearances in the Championship for the side since graduating to the first team in 2017.

News of Holmes’ potential availability is sure to alert a number of clubs who are looking to bolster their defensive options before the transfer window closes.
Holmes started in Reading’s losses against Peterborough and Port Vale at the start of the 2023/24 season, but missed out on their home win against Cheltenham on Tuesday evening.
He was named vice-captain of the side last summer behind captain Andy Yiadom and made 40 appearances as the side suffered relegation.
Holmes committed his future to the club by signing a three-year contract extension last summer, but his exit may now help the club balance their finances.
Reading were docked a point and their owner was fined £10,000 this week after the club failed to pay players their wages in time.
