Tottenham insider tips 'outstanding' Scarlett to start v Wolves

Tottenham insider John Wenham claims Dane Scarlett could start against Wolves in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night.

Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels, predicts Nuno Espirito Santo will shuffle the pack for the clash at Molineux.

Tottenham go to Wolves on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea and ahead of a crucial game against Arsenal this weekend.

As such, Wenham expects Nuno Espirito Santo won’t risk Harry Kane at Molineux, opening the door for Scarlett.

Scarlett, 17, has made five senior appearances for Tottenham, including two outings in the Europa Conference League this term.

Despite his age, the forward played for England Under 19s during the last international break.

He has also been a regular feature on the bench in the Premier League this season and Wenham claims he could earn a first start.

“I think he will feature tomorrow,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He could start or come on from the bench. We don’t need Harry Kane doing 90 minutes at Wolves with Arsenal to come on Sunday.

“Were we to lose him as well, we would not be looking in great shape ahead of that North London Derby.

“Scarlett is an outstanding young forward. The fact he was playing for the England Under 19 side as a 17-year-old tells you everything about his ability.

“I would love him to get some minutes as a young, homegrown, academy prospect.”

Kane is yet to score in the league for Tottenham this season but has scored more goals than anyone else in north London derby history.

Spurs have already beaten Wolves once this season with a Dele Alli penalty sealing three points in the league.
