Sources: Wolves in advanced talks to sign Santiago Bueno
Wolves are in advanced talks to sign Girona defender Santiago Bueno, sources have told Football Insider.
Wolves are close to landing the the Uruguay international, 24, as they look to bolster their defensive options before the close of the window.
Negotiations are progressing well as the Midlands outfit look to secure a full agreement with the centre-back in the next hours.
Bueno has impressed at Girona since joining from Barcelona B in 2019 and he will help fill the void left by the departures of Nathan Collins and Conor Coady from Molineux this summer.
The 24-year-old’s current contract with the LaLiga club runs until 2026 after signing an extension in January.
Bueno has been sidelined with a hamstring injury which kept him out of Girona’s first two games of the season.

He returned to the squad for Saturday’s (26 August) 2-1 win over Sevilla but didn’t make it off the bench most likely as a precaution.
The Uruguayan has made 120 appearances for Girona since his arrival in 2019 with four goals and five assists to his name in those outings.
Last season the centre-back made 36 appearances for the club across all competitions and was in the starting lineup for all but one of those fixtures.
Wolves will be hoping to continue their winning ways against Crystal Palace on Sunday (3 September) after beating Everton last weekend (26 August) and shipping five past Blackpool in Tuesday’s (29 August) EFL Cup game.
