Sheffield United icon 'disgusted' after Brewster victim of 'unacceptable' incident
Sheffield United striker Rhian Brewster was the victim of an “absolutely disgusting” online attack earlier this year.
So says Blades icon Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the abuse suffered by the 21-year-old centre-forward.
Brewster was subjected to racist remarks via Instagram in March and South Yorkshire Police duly launched an investigation.
The England Under-21 international made public the abusive private message that prompted police intervention.
Sky Sports reported on 5 October that a 14-year-old has subsequently been referred to the Youth Offending Services.
Kenny called the ordeal “horrible” and questioned what could have driven a teenager to think their language was acceptable.

“Anyone who racially abuses someone is a plonker,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“It’s really disappointing that it’s a teenager. That’s one of the worst things about this whole thing.
“You wonder where they hear it from. Does it come from the parents? It’s absolutely disgusting.
“What world are we living where people can hide behind a computer and think they can say what they want?
“I think it’s great that he is being punished for it, but I think it’s horrible what’s happened.
“After everything that happened at the Euros, it’s just unacceptable. Simple as.”
Brewster, who is under contract until 2025, signed for United from Liverpool for £23.5million in October last year.
He has struggled to make an impact at Bramall Lane and has netted just once in 38 appearances.
