'Hydration levels' could be to blame for Ryan Jack setback at Rangers - Hutton

Alan Hutton has suggested “hydration levels” could be to blame for Ryan Jack’s persistent injury issues at Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gers and Premier League full-back praised the Ibrox outfit for trying to get the bottom of his problem.

Jack was sent down to London last week to see a specialist to get to the bottom of his calf injury that has kept him out since the middle of February.

Assistant boss Gary McAllister is hopeful the midfielder will be fit for this summer’s European Championships as he revealed earlier this week they are still awaiting the results of his trip to London.

“I think when any player has an injury that keeps resurfacing you have to look deeper into it,” Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge.

“It could be anything, down to the hydration levels. It could be anything.

“I like the fact Rangers are moving forward with it and not just sitting about and thinking ‘Right OK, be out for a couple of weeks then come back and hopefully be OK.’

“They’re actually reacting and looking deeper into the situation. From a Rangers point of view, that’s good and hopefully, they can get to the bottom of that.

“Find out the issue and fix it in the long term.

“He’s another key part of that Rangers team. In certain games, they’ve missed him playing.

“We’re hoping it’s not that serious and they’re erring on the side of caution at the moment just until they get the right opinion.

“I’d like to see him back before the end of the season because there are some big games coming up, especially the two Celtic games, they’re going for the Scottish Cup and they want to go the season unbeaten. There are still games to play for where they’ll need a player like Ryan Jack back.”

In other news, a top pundit has identified a Rangers player set to explode in 2021/22 after a “massive” Ibrox dressing room reveal.
