Kieran Maguire slams Nottingham Forest development - 'real kick in the teeth for fans'

Nottingham Forest raising ticket prices by 30 per cent is a ‘real kick in the teeth for fans’ this season.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Forest’s ownership are trying to squeeze prices as high as possible while still selling out the City Ground.

As reported by The Athletic, Forest have increased matchday tickets for the 2023/24 campaign by 20-30 per cent on average.

For some fan categories, prices have inflated even more, with 20-23-year-olds being charged 173 per cent more this season compared to last.

Forest argues the prices are still reasonable compared to Premier League averages, with their highest matchday ticket coming in at £52.

But Maguire insists that the price changes made by the club are a ‘huge disappointment’ for the ‘magnificent’ fans that helped the club secure Premier League safety last season.

Forest fans were magnificent last season and you only have to look at the number of points they won at home to prove that,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

It helped to ensure survival in the Premier League in their first season back in the top flight.

It’s probably a real kick in the teeth for fans to be faced with such significant ticket rises.

From the club’s point of view they know they will sell out every match so they are trying to push the prices upwards and still sell out.

“But in terms of fans and the club’s loyalty, it is a huge disappointment.
