Agbonlahor: Man City tipped to agree £40m Bernardo Silva deal after confirmed news
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Bernardo Silva to follow Pep Guardiola’s lead and sign a new contract at Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Silva is “perfect” for Guardiola’s system and it would be an “outstanding” deal for Man City to do.
Guardiola committed to a new two-and-a-half-year deal with the club last month (23 November) that could take his tenure at the Etihad to nine years.
Silva is out of contract in the summer of 2025 but has long been linked to a move to Barcelona despite his importance to Man City.
Sources told Football Insider last week (26 November) that the club have now submitted an offer to the 28-year-old in the hope of keeping him at the Etihad.
The Portugal international’s current agreement is worth £150,000-a-week but a new deal would include a pay hike and extension.

The whole package is understood to be worth in excess of £40million to the player.
“I think with Pep committing his future, he likes Bernardo Silva and plays him most games, it makes sense for Bernardo Silva to commit as well,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s perfect for that team and it would be an outstanding deal to get him signed onto a new deal.”
Silva has scored 50 goals and provided a further 57 assists in 273 appearances across all competitions for Man City since arriving from Monaco in the summer of 2017.
He is currently at the World Cup in Qatar representing Portugal.
