Liverpool well placed to sign 'absolute superstar' after source's update today - pundit

Frank McAvennie has tipped Liverpool to beat Premier League rivals to Jude Bellingham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted Bellingham will choose to join the Anfield club over Chelsea.

According to journalist Matt Law, relayed by Anfield Watch (29 November), the Blues are expected to “bid big” for the 19-year-old.

The London club are said to be willing to match any bid that is made for the Borussia Dortmund star.

On 27 November, sources told this site that the Merseysiders have set their sights on signing two new midfielders next year, with Bellingham a top target.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been busy laying the groundwork for a potential deal but face extensive competition from clubs around the world, including Premier League rivals Man City and now Chelsea.

The latest from a Liverpool source on Sunday (4 December) is that Bellingham remains a prime target and the club are watching him closely at the World Cup and how he deals with the pressure of global scrutiny.

When asked if Liverpool would have the edge over Chelsea and Man City, McAvennie told Football Insider:I think so.

I think he will get more game time at Liverpool. He will be number one there.

I think Jurgen will give him a lot more freedom. He will let him go and play whereas everything with Pep is rigid, you have to do it his way.

It is brilliant, do not get me wrong, but it is a bit rigid. You do it his way or you are out.

I just think he will be an absolute superstar star at Liverpool. If it is for football reasons he will go to Liverpool.
