Man City news: Robinson issues 'big' Jack Grealish verdict after what he's spotted

Paul Robinson has claimed Man City midfielder Jack Grealish has “a big part to play” in England’s remaining World Cup games even if it is from the bench.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one claimed substitutes have had a “real impact” on proceedings so far in Qatar.

Grealish is yet to start a game for England at the World Cup.

He has been a second-half substitute in all four of the Three Lions’ games so far, including Sunday’s 3-0 win over Senegal.

Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka were given the nod to start by Gareth Southgate in the last 16 tie.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Grealish’s performance at the World Cup thus far, Robinson said: “I have been impressed with Grealish so far in this tournament.

“To his detriment, he always has an impact off the bench. It looks as if he only comes into the manager’s thinking as an impact substitute.

“If you look at the front three positions, Saka, [Marcus] Rashford, Foden and [Raheem] Sterling are the four leading the way. You cannot see three of them sitting on the bench and Grealish starting.

“Grealish still has a big part to play in this tournament though even if it is from the bench. We have seen throughout the tournament that substitutes can have a real impact on the game.”
