Sources: Carl Rushworth signs new Brighton contract as Swansea loan deal agreed
Carl Rushworth has signed a new contract with Brighton before agreeing a loan move to Swansea City, sources have told Football Insider.
Rushworth signed a contract extension until 2025 with Brighton in January 2022 and this is now set to be extended before a loan exit.
He had two years left on his Brighton contract before signing a new deal and is now set to test himself at Championship level for the first time with Swansea.
The 22-year-old Englishman is regarded as an exciting prospect for the future on the south coast.
However, Roberto De Zerbi has improved his options between the sticks with Bart Verbruggen’s arrival, leaving Jason Steele and Robert Sanchez as his other options.
Swansea boss Michael Duff is searching for a goalkeeping option as Andy Fisher is his only senior and fit goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign.

Rushworth also kept 11 clean sheets in 43 games for Walsall as they finished 16th in League Two during the 2021-22 campaign.
in 2019, Rushworth earned his first international call up when he was selected in Paul Simpson’s squad for England U19’s three UEFA European U19 Championship qualifiers against Luxembourg, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, although he did not play.
The Brighton goalkeeper would go on to make his first appearance at youth international level for England U21’s against Japan last month.
