Sources: Mohammed Salisu jets to Monaco for medical after Southampton agree fee
Mohammed Salisu is having medical at Monaco on Monday (31 July) ahead of his move from Southampton, sources have told Football Insider.
Monaco have agreed a £17m deal to sign Salisu and the player has been given the green light to travel to the Principality for talks and medical.
The 24-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at St Mary’s after joining from Real Valladolid in 2020.
Earlier this month (15 July), Football Insider revealed that the Saints received an offer from Monaco to sign the defender.
Talks had been ongoing between the sides but a deal has been agreed for Salisu to join the French club.
Southampton need to offload several players this summer following their relegation to the Championship after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign that saw them finish bottom of the Premier League.

Fellow English club Everton were interested in Salisu and had shortlisted him as a top candidate but he is now set to join Monaco after completing a medical.
The centre-back was a bright performer for the Saints in an ultimately bleak Premier League campaign and only missed one league game before a recurring hip injury ruled him out for most of the games at the tail end of the season.
He made 28 appearances across all competitions and offered up one assist in those outings.
Since his arrival at St Mary’s three years ago, Salisu has made 80 appearances across all competitions with one goal and one assist.
