Kieran Maguire: Newcastle United set to sign triple-your-money deal this week
The deal between Adidas and Newcastle United will be worth at least three times more than their current Castore deal.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ imminent kit deal.
Newcastle’s new Amazon Prime documentary appeared to leak a deal between the club and kit manufacturer Adidas this week.
The episode was quickly taken off air, but Adidas responded with a social media post that essentially confirmed the deal would be announced on 1 September.
Newcastle were previously partnered with UK-based manufacturer Castore in an agreement worth around £5-7million per year.
Maguire insists that Newcastle’s Adidas agreement will be a ‘significant’ step up, while also providing the club with a global distribution network to help sell kits to overseas fans.

“I’d expect to see a significant step up in respect of the Adidas deal,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Even if Castore had renewed their contract, it was likely to be at significantly more beneficial terms for Newcastle.
“What tends to be the case is that you get a fixed fee, plus a proportion of each unit of merchandise that is sold.
“I think part of the benefit of tying up with Adidas is that they have a global distribution network that can reach Newcastle fans in different markets that much easier.
“Castore does have a bit of a chequered history with regard to quality control.
“It will probably be three times – at least- the value of the Castore deal.
“That is a guaranteed sum that will go into FFP calculations, which can only delight Newcastle fans.“
