Man City have significant advantage over Liverpool after Pep Guardiola latest - pundit
Noel Whelan has suggested Man City have an advantage over Liverpool in the Premier League title race due to their squad depth.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Pep Guardiola is better suited than Jurgen Klopp to cope in case of any enforced absences to key players.
As quoted by the Manchester Evening News (20 April), Guardiola confessed the title race “depends on fatigue and injuries, it depends on the Champions League.”
Both sides face Champions League semi-final ties in the coming weeks as they head into the final five league games of the season.
Whelan suggested City are better placed to cope with the intense demands of the final run in.
Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “He’s got a team where if he put out his B side, they’d probably finish in the top six.

“When it comes to squad depth, Man City have got a larger depth in players than Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp.
“Yes, we know that the schedule is hectic and it’s demanding. That is what happens when you’re successful side going for every single trophy.
“It’s no different for Manchester City as well. The one good thing for Man City is they’re not in the FA Cup Final. That’s one less game they’ve got to worry about.
“I think you’ve just got to accept the fixture list is a challenge for both sides. It’s the same for both sides so get on with it. Yes, there’s going to be fatigue and yes, there are going to be injuries along the way, possibly.
“You might be lucky, you need a bit of luck in this situation. But Man City do have the ability to bring players in and out and rest them when needed.
“It’s not like he’s bringing in a 21-year-old. You’re bringing in experienced internationals.”
