Liverpool tipped to sign 18-year-old and sell Neco Williams after £12m reveal - Whelan
Noel Whelan has suggested Liverpool could allow Neco Williams to join Fulham permanently if they can strike a deal to sign Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider’s Russell Edge, the former Leeds striker insisted the Reds would not stand in the way of the 21-year-old right-back leaving in search of regular first-team football this summer.
As revealed by Football Insider last month (20 March), Williams wants to join Fulham permanently, with the Cottagers set to push for a transfer following their confirmed promotion.
Liverpool are believed to value the defender at around £12million.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool Echo (21 April) claim Liverpool are keeping tabs on Aberdeen’s Ramsay, 18, with a view to a summer move.
Whelan suggested the Reds could sign the teenage right-back to allow Williams to leave for Fulham.

“It would make sense, wouldn’t it?” Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge.
“Liverpool have always gone out and shadowed a player. Williams has gone out on loan. If he was really required that Liverpool, he probably would have stayed.
“But he’s gone out and got experience. He’s got an opportunity to be a regular in the Premier League with Fulham. I don’t think Liverpool have ever really stood in anyone’s way when it came to something like this.
“If there’s a thought in the mind that he’s not the player for them and they want to go out there and get something else, they will do.
“But they won’t stop one of their young players progressing their career. It might work in favour of both the club and Neco Williams.”
Williams has made 14 appearances for Fulham this season.
The Cottagers know another win would all but guarantee the Championship title.
