Liverpool news: Kieran Maguire 'flabbergasted' as 'ludicrous' talks set for June
It is “ludicrous” that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp may be forced to speak to the media at half-time from the start of next season.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Premier League’s controversial plans.
The Daily Mail reported last Sunday (17 April) that top-flight managers may be required for interviews at the interval from 2022-23.
It is understood that clubs are set to discuss and vote on the initiative at the Premier League’s AGM in June.
Managers will be limited to five half-time interviews per season and those whose teams are losing will not be approached.
Liverpool earned £266.1million in media-related income in 2020-21. the last financial year on record.

Maguire claims that the new interview proposal shows just how much power and influence the media now have over proceedings.
“I’m flabbergasted,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“The job of the coach is to prepare your team for the remainder of the match. The 90 minutes should be sacrosanct.
“I think this shows the domination by the media and how much control they really have.
“The questions, in any case, tend to be anodyne and the responses tend to be bland.
“It’s ludicrous to even try and figure out the benefits of this. I can’t figure it out.”
It is claimed that the proposals have been welcomed by the media departments of Premier League clubs.
Liverpool, who are in action against city rivals Everton today (24 April), are looking to move once again within a point of league leaders Man City.
