Liverpool news: These may be real 'reasons' for Mohamed Salah latest amid 'incredible' claim - pundit
Paul Robinson has claimed there are two factors behind Mohamed Salah’s dip in form at Liverpool.
The former Tottenham and England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old’s international exploits and contract situation were the cause.
Salah scored a brace against Man United last Tuesday to bring to an end a two month spell without a goal from open play.
The Egypt international also grabbed a crucial assist on Sunday as the Reds kept their title hopes alive with a 2-0 win over Everton at Anfield.
Contract talks between Salah and Liverpool are still ongoing, with the player’s deal set to expire at the end of June 2023.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Salah’s inconsistent form, Robinson said: “I don’t think the contract situation was helping him, to be honest with you.

“It has been a long season for everybody but more so for Salah. He has had the AFCON and the World Cup qualifiers as well. You cannot expect a player to player on that level every single game of the year.
“There are reasons for why he was not reaching that level. When I say he was not reaching the level I don’t mean he was playing badly.
“You have to take into account that he was probably the best player in the world for the first half of the season. He set such high standards. His overall season has been incredible.”
