Sources: Man City exploring Jamal Musiala deal

Man City are exploring a potential deal for Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala, sources have told Football Insider.

The treble-winners are monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation and building a dossier on him amid speculation about his contract situation at the German giants.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (21 October) that Liverpool are also doing their due diligence on a potential move for Musiala.

His current deal at the Allianz Arena, which nets him a reported £83,000-a-week, is set to expire in June 2026.

Both clubs have been alerted to the Germany international’s possible availability as the player negotiates a new deal with the Bundesliga winners.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the youngster is frustrated about not being a regular starter in Thomas Tuchel’s side despite his lofty potential.

Musiala is widely considered one of the best young players in Europe, with one recruitment source branding him a “potential world beater”.

But he has started sparingly in the Bundesliga this season, with Tuchel often preferring to start veteran attacker Thomas Muller.

The 20-year-old was more involved as Bayern won the Bundesliga last term, notching 16 goals and 16 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

Musiala has lifted four league titles since breaking through at senior level.

The youngster was a trainee at Southampton and Chelsea and played for England up to Under-21 level – before switching his allegiance to Germany.

Man City were in the market for an attacking midfielder in the summer window and remain interested in bolstering their options despite adding Matheus Nunes to their ranks.

Football Insider revealed last week (16 October) that City continue to monitor the situation of Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze despite failing to land him during the summer.
