Pundit 'sure' James Maddison will sign for Newcastle United after source's 'huge' reveal
Newcastle United could sign James Maddison for a cut-price fee due to Leicester City’s poor finances.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.
On Saturday (24 September) this site revealed Newcastle United are planning to submit a new offer for Maddison in January after seeing two bids rejected during the summer.
It is understood Eddie Howe remains a “huge” admirer of Maddison and is keen to bring him to St James’ Park when the transfer window reopens.
Leicester are yet to win in the Premier League this season and Kenny claims their poor form could play a key role in the 25-year-old’s future.
“Listen, Leicester have had a really, really poor start,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s not looking good, I just don’t know how they are going to turn it around. They don’t look like the old Leicester we are used to.
“The only positive for them this season is probably Maddison. They have lost key players and I am sure that if Newcastle come knocking, it is something he [Maddison] would want.
“I read some things about Leicester’s finances not looking too clever. If that is the case then it is the right time for Newcastle to pounce and get Maddison.
“He has looked like the player we all expect him to be and he will want to play at a higher level than Leicester are currently performing at.”
Maddison has scored three goals in six Premier League outings this season but was overlooked by Gareth Southgate as he picked his most recent England squad.
Newcastle are next in action against Fulham on Saturday (1 October).
