Sources: Leeds close in on Paintsil deal after terms agreed
Leeds United have not given up hope of agreeing a late deal for Genk forward Joseph Paintsil, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship side are in the market for multiple attacking signings and one of those is the 25-year-old wide man.
Leeds have already had a bid rejected for Paintsil after being convinced they would meet the Belgian club’s asking price.
But the Yorkshire giants have not given up hope of a deal and negotiations are continuing to secure an agreement.
It is thought that Paintsil is keen to complete a move to Elland Road and personal terms have already been agreed.
There is also interest in the forward from Southampton, who have battled with Leeds for a number of potential signings this summer.

Paintsil can play as either a left-sided winger or an attacking midfielder and scored 18 goals in 39 matches for Genk in all competitions last season.
On Saturday (26 August), Football Insider revealed that the Whites were holding new talks with Genk over a deal for the forward.
The 25-year-old is believed to be keen on a move to Elland Road after five years in Belgium.
Paintsil’s current contract runs until 2026 after he signed an extension last summer but could be on the move in the coming days.
The Ghana international has made 143 appearances across all competitions since joining Genk in 2018 and has netted 32 goals and offered up 25 assists in those outings.
