Campbell backs O'Brien to 'shine' for Leeds next season after major update
Lewis O’Brien could “shine” for Leeds United next season if he can adapt to Marcelo Bielsa’s “progressive system”, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, said now is “the perfect time” for the 22-year-old to make the step up to the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed on July 31st that O’Brien is keen to move to Elland Road this summer.
It comes after this site revealed the Whites had opened preliminary talks with Huddersfield over the midfielder.
Marcelo Bielsa cast his eye over O’Brien on Sunday as the Terriers beat Sheffield Wednesday on penalties in the first round of the EFL Cup and the latest from a Leeds source to Football Insider is their pursuit is ongoing.
O’Brien has one year left on his contract at Huddersfield, although the club hold a 12-month extension option on his contract.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if O’Brien would be a hit at Elland Road, Campbell said:
“I’m not sure if O’Brien would make a big impact on the Premier League, that remains to be seen but he is certainly a decent player.
“If you can grasp that Leeds system then you can shine because it is a really progressive system which gets the best out of players who can deal with the physicality of it. If he can handle it then there is the opportunity for him to really develop his game and become an established Premier League player.
“He is young as well so I think now is the perfect time to make the move.”
