Whelan swoons over 'huge' Rodrigo-Firpo dressing room reveal at Leeds

Leeds United have a real togetherness in the dressing room and that bodes brilliantly for their prospects on the pitch in 2021-22.

So says Leeds ambassador and ex-striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Rodrigo Moreno’s recent comments.

Speaking to LUTV on 1st August, the 30-year-old revealed how the Spanish-speaking contingent at Leeds has helped new signing Junior Firpo settle in.

“Each day he gets a little more comfortable,” the striker claimed when talking about the former Barcelona and Real Betis left-back.

Whelan insisted that the harmony in the Leeds dressing room can be crucial in securing good results on the pitch.

“It’s a sign of that togetherness in the dressing room,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“You’ve got a couple, Llorente, Rodrigo, Firpo and Costa, in there who speak Spanish now.

It’s huge for them to have those people in there that they have things in common with.

“But I’m sure they have a great relationship with the English base and other nationalities in there as well. That’s part of being a successful side.

“It’s about their characteristics. Can they gel together both on and off the pitch? That’s what makes a really successful side.

“We don’t just choose superstars to come in, we choose the right human beings who can fit into that dressing room.

“They get along with one another and push each other as well. There is nobody in that Leeds United team that has a bad attitude.

“It’s a really solid base of players and that’s a really promising sign of a successful side.”
