Paddy Kenny suggests Klaesson set for loan move as Leeds two-year plan revealed

Leeds United have “done their homework” on new signing Kristoffer Klesson – and the goalkeeper could immediately be sent out on loan.

So says ex-Whites shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Valerenga director of football Jorgen Ingebrigtsen’s recent remarks.

After his club confirmed Klaesson’s exit on 31st July, Ingebrigtsen wrote that Leeds had first made contact over two years ago in 2019.

It was Football Insider that broke news on 22nd July that Leeds were in advanced talks to sign the 20-year-old from the Norwegian club.

Kenny applauded Leeds’ recruitment team for having the deal in the pipeline for such a long time.

The 81-times Elland Road shot-stopper also predicted that Klaesson could soon be lent to another club to continue his development.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “It’s great to see they’ve done a lot of homework by the sounds of it.

“He’s 20 years old. I do think they need a bit of experience in that department.

“Maybe they are thinking long-term and he might go out on loan in the near future.

“I’m sure if they’ve done their homework, he’ll be a really good signing for them either way.

“He’s only 20 and he’s played over 100 games already in Norway. It’ll be interesting to see how he gets on at Leeds with that in the bank.

Football Insider revealed on 29th July that Leeds had a £1.6million bid, climbing to £2m with performance-related add-ons, accepted by Valerenga.

Klaesson, a Norway Under-21 international, made his senior debut for the Eliteserien outfit in 2019.
