Sources: Stoke City beat Sheffield Wednesday to Luke McNally deal as medical passed
Stoke City have agreed a loan deal for Burnley defender Luke McNally, sources have told Football Insider.
McNally has passed a medical at the Championship outfit and will make the move to the Potters on a season-long loan deal.
Stoke have beaten off interest from the likes of Coventry, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City for the Irish defender.
The 23-year-old found himself down the pecking order at Burnley and he spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry City.
McNally played 21 times in the Championship last season, with just two of those outings coming for Burnley.
He subsequently went out on loan to Coventry and played a key role for Mark Robins’ side as they fell short at the final hurdle in the play-off final against Luton.
