Sources: Swansea City hijack Fleetwood deal for Leeds star Gyabi
Swansea City have made a late move to hijack Fleetwood’s deal for Leeds United star Darko Gyabi, sources have told Football Insider.
The midfielder, 19, had agreed to join Fleetwood on loan, and the transfer was all but done.
However, Swansea have moved to ambush the deal at the eleventh hour and take Gyabi to Wales.
The Swans are looking to strengthen their midfield late into the window and pounced quickly to try and secure Gyabi’s signature.
The young midfielder has only featured for one minute in Leeds’ Championship campaign this season after coming on for a late cameo in their 4-3 win over Ipswich Town.
Gyabi also featured for 45 minutes against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup, but Daniel Farke appears to favour the midfield duo of Archie Gray and Ethan Ampadu.

Gyabi arrived at Elland Road last summer as an exciting prospect, with his move tied in with the sale of Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City.
However, the former City academy star has struggled for game time and Leeds’ coaching staff believe a loan deal is the best possible step for his development at the Yorkshire club.
Gyabi made 24 appearances for Leeds’ youth side last season, scoring twice and assisting four times from a deep-midfield role.
Fleetwood Town will continue their search for midfield reinforcements after their dire start to the season which has seen them drop into the relegation spots in League One.
